Natural Products Better for Health
I’m sure you hear it over and over that what you put on your skin can affect your body. This is true. Your skin is actually the biggest organ in (or should I say on) your body and it is porous so everything sinks into your body through your skin. A very quick tutorial about skin; It’s got 3 main layers: epidermis, dermis and subcutis which contains the fats, acting as a shock absorber and heat keeping mechanism for the body. The epidermis is constantly shedding like a snake and has the pigment housed in there. Deep to the epidermis is the dermis which has some very important stuff in it such as lymph vessels, blood vessels, sweat glands, collagen bundles, hair follicles and the cells called fibroblasts which help rebuild the skin and even bone. So, if you can only imagine that all of these very important humanly things exist in your body right on the surface of your skin, you must honor what you put in contact with these intricate structures in order to avoid health complications.
One day when I was paroozing the health and beauty section of Whole Foods, I stumbled across the smile and warmth radiating from across the aisle as this kind gentleman by the name of Hugo who reached out and packed my grocery bag with a free hand made coconut soap and an orange zest spray for my yoga students for when I teach class. This awesome dude Hugo convinced me to also pack my grocery bag with a bath gel and a body cream, all made by his company, which was formed by him and his wife. I ended up asking him to be a part of my blog post here on JZ FITNESS because I thought this man was too cool. (check out the video below of this lovely man).
So, Hugo has his own label; Hugo and Debra (his wife) Naturals. What they stand for is worth sharing:
Hugo and Debra Naturals hand-select all-natural, food-grade ingredients and blend them according to their original recipes to create pure products for skin, hair, baby and home. Pretty neat!
Every Hugo Naturals product is handcrafted in the USA. Their products are free of petrochemicals, animal fats, parabens, silicones, formaldehyde, hydroquinone, phthalates, propylene glycol, and synthetic surfactants. Their products are never tested on animals, are gluten free and made from sustainable sources that are pure and natural.
Ok, now go to your cupboard in the bathroom and kitchen and see if any of those above chemicals are in anything you use. If they are, you may want to reconsider using those things since they will touch your skin in some shape or form. Remember, even your laundry detergent, and cleaning solutions can impact your body on some level. I always say that there are no guarantees in life. (someone told me today that paying taxes is one guarantee in life-true, true!) But we can certainly do our due diligence to pick products that don’t posses the stuff that we know shouldn’t be near our beautiful bodies.
As I stated in my book, Breaking the Chains of Obesity, 107 Tools, treat your body like a temple. You only get one! Do not take it for granted. Love it every single day that you rise and shine! xo JZ
