Just Add Protein to the Salad
One way to avoid complete marriage to your kitchen is to buy a pre-made salad and just make the protein. For me, I was in the mood to make my wild orange roughy, but put it onto something else. As many of you already know, I shop a lot at Trader Joe’s, so the salad was purchased there. For less than $4.50, you can get a very decent salad there. Just check the labels (tool #56) to ensure that it is JZ FITNESS approved. What makes it JZ Fitness approved? Well folks, that is why I wrote an app which is going to the Apple store for approval over the next 7 days so stay tuned for that.
For now, enjoy this indulgent salad. It is the Mozzarella and Tomato Salad, however, take off all the mozzarella balls, minus 1-3, depending on your metabolism. I ate three, but keep in mind that I also worked out at a vigorous intensity that day, and in general, I break down the saturated fats in cheese quickly. However, to keep lean, I do not eat cheese other than in this meal, and occasionally Parmesan cheese sprinkled on my egg white omelets.
Once you get this salad, get yourself a WILD, not farm raised, white fish. I chose orange roughy which I had left over for another post. I used simple ingredients to cook the fish.
What to get:
- Wild (I got frozen) orange roughy: size of your palm
- Crushed garlic
- Powdered garlic
- Grapeseed oil
- Olives
- Capers
- Lemon
What to do:
Defrost the fish in a cold bucket of water for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, cut the packaging open and put the fish on the stove into the 2 tbsp of grapeseed oil. Add all the garlic and spray the lemon juice onto the fish. Once you flip the fish over (about 3-4 minutes) then add in the capers and olives. Once the other side is done cooking, serve directly onto the salad. In less than 20 minutes (thawing included), you have a white fish salad which is yum yum!
