Cauliflower the New Popcorn
Open your mind up and your mind will allow you to accept that cauliflower, cooked the JZ FITNESS way, can certainly replace your nutrition-less popcorn any day of the week. But for those of you who eat your popcorn while wiping your tears away during a dramatic film or while laughing at Adam Sandler movies, will hopefully shift to my cauliflower popcorn alternative. Before you judge, try it. I am always looking to keep you eating your veggies so this is yet another strategy…work with me baby, work with me!!!
The trick is this; you must cook the cauliflower thoroughly enough so that it doesn’t taste like cauliflower. The texture of this plant actually changes when it acquires a crisp edge.
What you need:
- Head of cauliflower or a bag of cauliflower chopped up (Trader Joes and Whole Foods sells bags of chopped veggies)
- Garlic powder
- Light organic low sodium butter
This is how we do it: (remember that song?)
Cut the cauliflower into tiny pieces and place in the casserole dish to cook. Sprinkle on the garlic powder and put 3 teaspoons onto the cauliflower at different parts of the casserole. Place in the oven for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Check after 25 minutes and see if you are ok with the texture of your cauliflower and if not, cook a little longer. Be sure to cool off before indulging.
