JZ Fitness FAMOUS Soup
Flu season or not, you need to keep your immunity strong. How? Plants plants plants. Your immunity is compromised by many items in your life including; genetics, poor nutrition, poor sleep, poor hormonal production, stress, lack of balance, overtraining, overweight, co-existing conditions that weaken immunity, medications, to name a few.
The trick is to keep the host strong, so nothing will go wrong. All these factors listed above are areas of opportunity for most. But ask yourself, are you even getting your veggies in? In the many people I personally coach, no one does.Well, one way to guarantee more veggies is soup. Soup, especially around flu season, is VERY easy to consume cause it is warm, hearty, and very healing.
The video below features my idea of incorporating bone broth and other broths into your day as comfort but also for the phenomenal healing power it can potentially bring to your body. Bone broth contains compounds like collagen, glutamine, glycine and proline. The collagen in bone broth might heal your gut lining and reduces intestinal inflammation, assuming you are following an anti-inflammatory diet. If you have questions about this, ask me. There is too much loose jargon out there about anti-inflammation and truly it can mislead you. So lets stick to the basics and learn what it takes to stay strong so that you don't get sick and so that you age well.
Here is my famous soup:
Organic low sodium bone or veggie broth (2 containers will serve 2-3)
1 whole organic rotisserie chicken from whole foods
Bok choy (2 whole)
4 servings of Spinach
4 organic Carrots shredded
4 Celery stalks diced in
1 small clove Garlic
Dash of Cayenne pepper
Dash of Turmeric
Dash of Himalayan pink sea salt
What to do:
Just toss all the contents into a big pot and keep stirring until all items are heated up. I do not make my own broth because if you are sick, the last thing you want to do is stand over a stove and prep your soup. I recommend Farmer's Markets, or Whole Foods, or even Trader Joes to get these broths. Just make sure you follow the recipe with a low sodium organic brand to avoid a bunch of unnecessary ingredients. Here's to a healthy YOU!
