Baked Yummy Apples for the Holiday Season

Cold weather certainly can deter the average person from thinking of cold salads and other items that are most optimal for health.  While I, myself, am a huuuge food junkie, I always strive to create options for myself along with my fans to help push past the hunger pangs from colder weather and darker days.  With the holidays here, I knew that I needed some sort of staple that I can turn to for when I just feel like making fresh baked JZ FITNESS cookies (which can be fattening if you eat more than 2).  Baked apple is my new stitch.

This option stemmed from me purchasing a whole bag of red apples from Trader Joes and having a ton left over from what I originally bought them for.  I am not the biggest apple fan because of the texture, but baked apples that taste like dessert, I am in!

All you need:

  1. Red or Green apples
  2. Organic honey
  3. Candied pecans or walnuts
  4. Cinnamon

What to do:

Hollow out the center of the apple removing the core and seeds.  Place a little bit less than a handful of the candied nuts into the center.  Top it with a teaspoon of honey.  Sprinkle cinnamon on top.  Place it on a baking sheet.  It’s good to make two so that someone can enjoy it with you otherwise one is good too.  Bake in the oven for 15 minutes at 375 degrees and then check on it.  If it’s soft enough to your liking then boom, your apple is ready.  Well, not quite yet. Let it first cool down for at least 5 minutes, otherwise you might burn your mouth.  Ouch!
