Turkey Burger and Sweet Potato Cake

You know that I love lean ground turkey meat. It’s not only affordable, but it can be made into so many different things, including a standard turkey burger. We know that this isn’t rocket science, however, did you know that coupling your burger with something different might actually make your taste buds water?  I visualized a sweet potato casserole that had an outstanding taste to couple with my burger last night.  But, I realize that portions are always outta control for people, so I decided, why not make the casserole into individual cakes by using my cupcake pan?  Why am I so smart? Thank you mom and dad!

This meal was extraordinary.  Here are the components: turkey burger (awesome seasoning) with sweet potato cakes (2) and a whole bunch of romaine lettuce (bunched up as a wrap)  Easy to make, delicious to eat.  Me likey!

Here’s whatcha need:

  1. Empire lean turkey meat
  2. 21 Salute Seasoning
  3. Garlic powder
  4. Chopped white onions
  5. Romaine lettuce bunches (usually 3 bunches to a bag)
  6. An avocado
  7. Horseradish (option for the turkey burger)
  8. 3 sweet potatoes
  9. Walnuts
  10. Cinnamon
  11. Pumpkin spice (I just threw this in so don’t panic if you don’t have it or if the grocery store is out)

Here’s what to do:

First, peel the sweet potatoes and put them into the nuker for 12 minutes to soften.  Then, go to the turkey burgers.  You can add all the spices (garlic and 21 salute seasoning) together, along with 1/2 cup of the chopped onions.  Form mini burgers and cook on the BBQ grill (or in a pan if you do not have a BBQ).  Once the sweet potatoes are done getting softened, grab your cupcake pan and put in 2 tbsp of mashed sweet potato into it and mix in the cinnamon and pumpkin spice-top it with 2 walnuts.  Bake for 5 minutes together.  Serve the cooked turkey burgers on top of the Romaine lettuce bunch and put 1/2 avocado on top along with a dab or two of horseradish onto the burger.  Then, take 2 little sweet potato cakes and place onto your plate.  Enjoy!
