Blue Salt Fish Grill - Eating Out

When you are absolutely on the go, are unprepared with no packed meals from home, and you and your colleague or friend wanna meet for a quick, reasonably priced healthy meal around the corner, where the heck do you go?  Well, thanks to my boy Jerry, he did a quick Yelp search the other day and found The Blue Salt FishGrill on Artesia, close to where we were.  Can you tell that it was cold out?  A post workout meal as such should only offer lots of warmth.  Most people would rather eat comfort food in these temps, but having a plan, and then sticking to the plan can avoid derailing your healthy lifestyle.

Here are the basics to breaking your chains of just visiting the golden arches.  Go to Yelp and search Healthy Food Near wherever you are.  It will bring up all options.  Then, choose a healthy option from the place because you can rest assure, not everything on the menu is JZ approved.  Nope!

So, here is what we at at this joint.  Forget the ambiance itself.  The website certainly makes this place look amazing.  The food was pretty good, but the options included lots of high GI carbs which most of you know are a no no!  So, here is what we chose along with some additional options for your convenience.

Jerry ate the seared Ahi Tuna salad with dressing on the side

I ate the grilled coho salad with lots of different veggies on there and dressing on the side of course.

Notice you can pair a fish with 2 sides too. Choose one of the following:

  • Salmon
  • Red Snapper
  • Chilean Sea Bass
  • Mahi Mahi
  • Catfish
  • Yellow Tail
  • Whitefish
  • Swordfish
  • Trout

Wow what a variety. Love that about this place.  By the way, is tilapia a wild fish?  Then what the heck is it doing on this list?  Oy!

Then couple the protein with 2 of the following options below:

Grilled zucchini

Salad with dressing on the side

Grilled Mediterranean veggies

Arugula and spinach salad with dressing on the side

You don’t need desert.  I am assuming you are eating your small frequent meals.  Remember, be satiated.  Never stuffed like a pig!  That is old school and it is up to you to plan your meals and make your behaviors go towards healthy living.  Be sure to opt into the JZ Fitness Times for continuous information on healthy aging.  I am here to guide you!
